【性状】常温下，气态臭氧厚层无色，有刺激性腥臭气味，浓度高时与L气气味相像;液态臭氧深蓝色，固态臭氧紫黑色。 另外，臭氧为纯净物。在常温下，易分解，生成氧气和氧原子。
【用途】用于水的消毒和空气的臭氧化，在化学工业中用作强氧化剂。
【制备或来源】主要的制臭氧技术有：电解法、核辐射法、紫外线、等离子体及电晕放电法等几种。应用比较广泛的是臭氧发生器放电氧化空气或纯氧气成臭氧，紫外线杀菌灯分解空气中的氧气形成臭氧。即应用高能量交互式电流作用空气中的氧气使氧气分子电离而成臭氧。高锰酸盐和强酸反应可以生成臭氧(O3)，且浓高锰酸盐溶液本身会缓慢地氧化水，形成少量的臭氧。
特别注意：虽然臭氧有特殊的π键，但臭氧转化为氧气不是氧化还原反应，因为元素单质氧化态规定为0价，而氧化还原反应的定义为：反应前后元素的化合价具有相应的升降变化的化学反应。在反应过程中有元素化合价变化的化学反应叫做氧化还原反应。因此他们之间的转换不能视为氧化还原反应。
【概述】臭氧是氧气的同素异形体，在常温下，它是一种有特殊臭味的淡蓝色气体。英文臭氧(Ozone)一词源自希腊语ozon，意为“嗅”。 臭氧主要存在于距地球表面20千米的同温层下部的臭氧层中，含量约50ppm。它吸收对人体有害的短波紫外线，防止其到达地球，以屏蔽地球表面生物，不受紫外线侵害。在大气层中，氧分子因高能量的辐射而分解为氧原子(O)，而氧原子与另一氧分子结合，即生成臭氧。臭氧又会与氧原子、氯或其他游离性物质反应而分解消失，由于这种反复不断的生成和消失，臭氧含量可维持在一定的均衡状态。

设备设施的运行
1、站场污水处理设施一般采用自动操作，将电控箱箱面转换开关旋至“自动”位置，污水处理设施即可自动运行。
（1）污水泵：调节池污水泵（进水泵）由调节池内液位控制器自动控制。液面上升至中液位时，1＃污水泵开始运行；液面继续上升至上液位时，2＃污水泵开始运行，液面下降至中液位时，2#污水泵停止，液面继续下降至下液位时，1#污水泵停止。1＃、2＃污水泵为连续运行3小时自动切换。
（2）风机：自动运行程序启动后，风机进入更工作方式，风机连续运行。1＃、2＃风机连续运行3小时自动切换。
当调节池液位连续处于下液位1小时后，风机自动切换成第二工作方式，工作状态为风机停止2小时，运行0.5小时，如此循环，此状态直至调节池液面升至上液位时，再切换为更工作方式。
（3）污泥气提装置。 污泥气提装置工作状态：
1m3/h污水处理设施为间隔6小时运行5分钟。 0.5m3 /h污水处理设施和好氧池曝气一起运行。
